Research and Practice on Teaching Modes of Engineering Fundamentals Courses for Art Majors in Industrial Design

In terms of current teaching system for art majors in industrial design, it is necessary for both the majors in industrial design and prospective qualified industrial designers to learn and master the fundamentals of engineering. However, at present, from the perspective of engineering technology courses for majors of industrial design, their miscellaneous contents, traditional teaching styles, limited teaching resources and class hours hinder the instructional objective of such courses from being realized. In this paper, by communicating and discussing with my colleagues in teaching and research section and integrating with my own teaching experience, I explore the teaching modes of fundamental engineering courses for art majors in industrial design and put them into practice. The teaching modes are discussed from the perspective of integration of curricular teaching contents, train of thoughts, and reform of teaching styles.
