Study of Product Conceptual Design Based on Independence Axiom and its Application
Based on the basic theory of Axiomatic Design (AD), the essential characteristics of transforming functional requirements into behavior descriptions in conceptual design are primarily studied. The model that governs design process is given on the basis of the analysis of mapping principles in AD and the characteristics of conceptual design. This paper presents the whole process of conceptual design applying AD in detail. According to the proposed conceptual design model, a box-type pressure filter is used as an example. The functional requirements of the box-type pressure filter are implemented by some concrete structure designs and then a reasonable conceptual design scheme with theoretical basis is obtained.
