A Study on Characterization and Conveyance of Status by Clothing
This paper fully explores the interactive function of clothing on characterization and conveyance of social status. From the perspective of clothing semiotics, psychology and sociology, the function of significant and signified in ontological clothology is deeply explored. The role of the referred relationship between significant and signified in clothology theories is also surveyed. This paper analyzes the pattern after clothing codes are integrated and explores the construction of the language of clothing system. From the changing of characterization forms of clothing, different characterization under different status and the conveyance of psychological feelings by clothing and so on, the influence of social status on clothing is explored. To be exact, the close relationship between clothing characterization and social status is studied; the bidirectional process of status and clothing is sorted out. Piercing the surface of clothing characterization, a deep understanding of ontological clothology is harvested. Furthermore, the connotation of clothing culture, the rationality of clothing culture interacting with social value system, the process of diversification and individuation clothing in getting rid of traditional concepts and feudal social class order are all fully explored in this paper.
