A Preliminary Study on the function and artistry of Bracket design of Song

摘要：

Song Dynasty is the peak stage of the development of bracket technology and art, and it has a significant influence and effect on Chinese traditional wooden buildings. It is the concentrated reflection of traditional wooden architectural motifs, which inherits and continues the reasonable bearing mechanical relation and clear exterior-eave structural relation. The Cai-Fen modular system formed by bracket possesses a great scientific directive meaning to construction of traditional architectures. The perfect framing system of bracket also becomes the important component of architectural image, which produces the double effects of function and aesthetic to architectural appearance.
