The testing of the shear energy of moulding sand and the evaluations of its toughness

摘要：

A shear strength energy tester controlled by PLC is used to record the deformation and the shear strength of moulding sand samples, and the results obtained are then processed to calculate the shear energy, which is used for characterizing the moulding sand’s toughness. Different compactability, bentonite content, starch content and number of rams are applied to explore their influences on shear energy of the sand. Shear energy of different phases in the shear process is also studied.
