Microstructural characteristics of white cast iron by lost foam casting with vibration

By means of metallographic analysis, the microstructural characteristics of white cast iron with vibration in lost foam casting (LFC) were studied, and the phase analysis of the casting was investigated by using of XRD in this paper. The casting microstructure indicates the typical hypoeutectic microstructure of white cast iron, and its phase composition consists of ferrite, Fe2P, Fe2C, FeC, Fe7C3, Fe3Si, Fe3C and Mo2C. Meanwhile, the vibration refines the pearlite of the white cast iron, and the increased specimen thickness indicate that the refined role of vibration is obvious.
