Electromagnetic Detection Technique in Spontaneous Combustion Area of Coalfields

Disasters of spontaneous combustion at coalfields are severe in China. In order to control spontaneous combustion, locating the location of spontaneous area in coalfield is very important, which could provide scientific basis for flame extinguishment design and construction of coalfields. High resolution earth resistivity method and transient electromagnetic method (small loop-center probe equipment) are two useful methods to probe spontaneous area and which theory and effect of detection are investigated in detail. Based on the application, the abovementioned methods are effective in detecting the combustion center and distribution scope of combustion areas at coalfields with wide application prospects.
