The mineralogical characteristics and genesis of the dickite in Taiyuan Formation in Southeastern Shanxi
The minerals in the partings of NO.15 Coal in Southeastern Shanxi were studied with X ray diffraction qualitative and quantitative analysis. The results indicated that the main clay minerals in the partings included dickite, ammonium illite and kaolinite, with a few illite and chlorite. The dickite was mainly distributed in the middle partings, pertain to 2M1 type, with the concentration of 34-78%, and the main diffraction peaks between 34°39°/26 were two pairs of peaks. The FWHM of basal diffraction peaks was relatively large, indicating lower crystallinity. The dickite of the research area was transformed form kaolinite during diagenesis and the generation temperature was 140°C more or less.
