A New Cross-Range Scaling Method for ISAR Based on the Multiple Dominant Scatterers Synthesis
This paper addresses the problem of cross-range scaling of inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR). It is the basis of obtaining the information about the target, such as the size and the shape. To accomplish the cross-range scaling, the rotating velocity (RV) of the target needs to be estimated first. In this paper, a new approach is presented for estimating the RV by analyzing the relation between the chirp rate of the cross-range signal and the range cell. A technique based on the multiple dominant scatterers synthesis is used to estimate the chirp rate. Finally, real data processing results are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed crossrange scaling method.
