Analysis of the impact of measured UWB RCS on high-resolution imaging in Bistatic SAR

To obtain high-resolution Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images, large signal bandwidth and wide accumulated angle are required. Based on space-surface bistatic SAR (SS-BSAR) geometric configuration, the amplitude and phase characteristics of measured Radar Cross Section (RCS) in ultra-wideband (UWB) radar are analyzed in this paper. According to the principle of monostatic and bistatic equivalence, the impact of the amplitude and phase characteristics of measured RCS in UWB radar on high resolution imaging in Bi-SAR is studied. By the simulation with the measured UWB RCS, it is found that high-resolution Bi-SAR images of target have significant difference in different bistatic angles and different target postures; even an obviously false target appears. The work of this paper will lay the groundwork for high-resolution imaging mechanism and image interpretation of Bi-SAR.
