Modeling of Solidification of ZM5 Shell and Optimization of Casting Parameters
Mold filling and solidification of ZM5 shell were numerically studied by commercial software MAGMASOFT?. Casting parameters were optimized to reduce the extent of shrinkage porosity in the solidified shell. Calculated results show that the simulation results of the casting process with chills have a large amount of shrinkage porosity defects. Optimized casting process without chills can effectively eliminate shrinkage porosity defects, shrinkage defects can be effectively reduced.
