Gas blow forming ofAZ31 magnesium alloy sheet in a heart-shaped closed die
The deformation characteristics of heartshaped AZ31 magnesium alloy part with a thickness of 1.0mm were investigated using superplastic gas blow forming in the present work. A heart-shaped part was formed successfully by gas blow forming at 340℃. with a strain rate 5×10-3S-1.. The thickness distribution, grain size and cavitation characteristics were investigated to seek proper superplastic forming mechanism. In addition, another heart-shaped part was also formed by gas blow forming with 1.5MPa at 340℃. SEM image of fracture surface of this part was observed. The results show that grain boundary sliding with vacancy diffusion plays a dominant role during superplastic deformation; meanwhile dynamic recrystallization has taken place during superplastic deformation.
