Sliding Mode Based MTPA Control System of IPMSM for Hybrid Electrical Vehicles

A sliding mode variable structure control (SMVSC) strategy is applied to maximum torque per ampere (MTPA) vector control system of interior permanent magnet synchronous machine (IPMSM) in order to meet the demand of strong anti-disturbance ability for hybrid electric vehicles. Due to existence of intrinsic chattering in the sliding mode control, the sliding mode current controller based on an improved variable exponent reaching law is proposed, coordinated with integral sliding surface and continuous switching function, which effectively alleviates the system chattering. Simulation results demonstrate that the system has strong robustness and good static and dynamic performances, applicable for hybrid electric vehicles.
