Simplorer Simulation and Comparison of Three Detection Methods for Reactive Current in STATCOM

Real-time and accurate testing of the reactive current affects the accuracy of reactive power compensation by STATCOM. By analyzing the mathematical model simulation of three-phase instantaneous reactive power theory, the three detection methods of harmonic and reactive current are represented. They are the p-q method, the ip-iq method and the dqO method. Simulation models of three-phase balanced and unbalanced with resistanceinductive load are made in Simplorer. Simulating curves are shown that the dqO method and the ip-iq method can accurately detect the reactive current under the three-phase balanced load. Only the dqO method can exactly detect the reactive current under the three-phase unbalanced load.
