Fuzzy Contingency Table
We consider an extension of the classical methods of analysis of a two-way contingency table when the available sample of observations is reported as imprecise data and we prefer to categorize the variables based on linguistic terms rather than as crisp quantities. For this purpose, we extend the usual concept of the test statistic and critical value to test the null hypothesis of independence, at a given fuzzy significance level. In addition, in order to evaluate the dependence in such contingency tables, some measures of association are extended to the fuzzy version. We illustrate the performance of the proposed method in a practical application related to social sciences. A practical example is provided to explain the applicability of the proposed method.
