Power Containment of Transverse Electromagnetic Modes of Cylindrical Dielectric Waveguide
In this work, power containment characteristic of different transverse modes of dielectric waveguide has been computed, plotted and analyzed. Electromagnetic power carried by transverse electric (TE) and transverse magnetic (TM) modes has been derived. Ratio of power carried by TE mode inside dielectric waveguide to the power carried by the same mode outside it has also been derived and plotted using Matlab. Similarly the ratio of power carried by TM mode outside the dielectric waveguide to that inside it have also been derived and plotted. Finally, a comparison has been made of power containment of different transverse modes and suitability of these modes for oscillator applications has been described.
