A NOVEL DUAL BAND-NOTCHED ULTRA-WIDEBAND ANTENNA

A novel dual band-notched ultra-wideband (UWB) slot antenna is presented and investigated in this paper. By simply embedding a ring resonator in antennas tuning stub and inserting L-shaped branches into the ground plane, two notched band of 3.3-3.6 GHz for WiMAX and 5.15-5.825 GHz for WLAN are achieved. The antenna is successfully simulated and measured. The results show that dual-band notched characteristic can be obtained by using two different structures. The antenna satisfies the VSWR requirement of less than 2.0 in the frequency band between 2.1 and 10.6GHZ, except two frequency stop-bands of 3.15-3.8 GHz and 5.1-6.0 GHz. Transfer functions of the antenna system are given experimentally, and the parametric studies are performed numerically in this article.
