River Corridor Greenway in Urban EnvironmentPerception and Use of East Ho Chung River Greenway in Guangzhou
Recently river corridors in Guangzhou are being focused on as important natural networks in urban environment as well as cultural and recreational resources. This paper took East Ho Chung River Greenway in Guangzhou as an object to do some comprehensive evaluation of its built environment by the method of the post occupancy evaluation (POE), such as questionnaires, interviews and statistics. The questionnaire is divided into 6 categories, such as facilities, green space, signs and maps, transport, security and management, and recreational activities in external environment Through the analysis, we identified six human dimensions in the studies: cleanliness, aesthetic, comfort, safety, suitability and hydrophilic property. As a result of this research, some problems on the evaluation were grasped by the hierarchy process analysis based on the six categories and users six human dimensions. We concluded by discussing solutions of these problems, and suggested some proposals in design to meet the users requirem ent for the future construction of greenway. This study aims to improve the quality of East Ho Chung River Greenways built environment, and to make the greenway design more scientific.
