Characteristics of some heavy metals of shallow groundwater in reclamation area--A preliminary assessment of impact by coal gangue
The effects of coal gangue filling in the reclamation area(KA) on the characteristics of some heavy metals in shallow groundwater(SGW) was investigated by monitoring the contents of Cd, Cr, Zn and Ni for 3 years from monitor well(MW) of reclamation area. A normal shallow groundwater sample from individual well (IW) next to reclamation area was selected as the control and provided reference background values. The same elements in coal gangue and soil near the IW were also tested. The resulted showed that the concentrations of these heavy metals in SGW increasing gradually after reclamation. Compared with the control, the concentrations of Cd and Ni are higher in SGW of RA, while lower for Cr and Ni. Also the concentrations of Cd and Ni are higher in coal than in soil, while lower for Cr and Ni. The results of evaluation also indicate that SGW of RA is polluted by coal gangue.
