Simulation Hydrological Characteristic of Yuqiao Watershed Based on Digital Elevation Model

Based on analysis of Digital Elevation Model (DEM), hydrology data of Yuqiao watershed in Tianjin, and Geographic Information System (abbr. GIS), we can quantitatively analyze and simulate hydrological information and hydrological characteristics of stream basins in Yuqiao watershed. The hydrology processes, such as extracting the surface features, filling the sinks of DEM. identifying the flow direction, calculating the flow accumulation and extracting the river network of the whole basin were analysis step by step.. The results are evaluated based on the comparison of catchment areas. As a result, when the drainage area is 10000m2 The area error of whole watershed is 0.02%. The study of the integration of DEM and GIS technique is an effective approach to extract catchment and simulate hydrological processes.
