Why foreign banks divest their strategic investment in Chinese banks
In 2009, some foreign banks divest their stakes in Chinese banks which give a great shock to Chinese banks and Chinas banking sector, and this paper investigates the causes of the divestment Eclectic theory is been used to examine the causes of the divestment through qualitative analysis. The results indicate that financial problems of foreign banks in their home country and Chinas regulation on foreign banks contribute to the divestment However, the expectation on poor performance of Chinese banks is not the cause of the divestment
