Economic Development and Agricultural Sector in Thailand A Multi-Sector Dynamic Model Analysis
Agriculture is important to national growth. This paper studies the linkages of the agricultural sector to the rest of Thailands economy, utilizing a dynamic multi-sector general equilibrium model with government intervention. In the analysis, this dissertation develops a fixed exchange rate social accounting matrix (SAM) to match the real economic environment to that of the model. All coefficients and parameters are directly or otherwise adjusted and calculated from real data. As for policy recommendations, it is a good chance for government to more promote the agricultural sector, particularly if revenue from this sector is needed.
