A Layer Distributed Caching Replacement Mechanism for P2P Video-on-Demand Systems
With the rapid development of the Peer-to-Peer (P2P) network, the media streaming technology has been used in this environment. Whats more, Video-on-Demand (VOD) has become more popular in the Internet nowadays. However, VOD which demands a high degree of interactivity makes an achievement of a higher degree complexity. In this paper, a new algorithm named LDC (Layer Distributed Caching) is proposed, which is a peer caching mechanism based on the P2P Video-onDemand system. And the goal of this algorithm is to reduce the workload of server and decrease the start delay of users. Simulation results show that this mechanism is effective in these two aspects of the P2P VOD system comparing to another existing approach.
