Temperature Measurement and Simulation in Surface Grinding
The heat generated in the grinding zone plays an important role in the temperature field that would alter the residual stress formation and surface integrity of alloy steel work pieces. Heat flux model is a key factor in calculating the temperature field and temperature history. The Different heat flux models based on the grinding actions are used to simulate the temperature field and temperature history with finite element method. Experiments are performed in the different grinding conditions. Seminatural thermocouple is used to measure the temperature history of alloy steel surface layer in grinding. Comparison between simulated results obtained from the finite element model and experiment results reveals a good agreement. Heat flux models should be-selected to simulate temperature field in different grinding conditions.
