A Qualitative and Quantitative Analysis Method of Risk Priority Number
Process Failure Mode Effect and Analysis (PFMEA) is one of the most popular methods to study the reliability of process systems. The method of Risk Priority Number (RPN) is the key part of PFMEA. Many experts have studied it. But the method has some drawbacks. This paper analyzed the defects of traditional Risk Priority Number method in PFMEA. And it proposes a new method based on cost and probability which includes qualitative and quantitative analysis. The improved RPN method makes the result of the RPN analysis more objective and accurate. The new RPN method is applied to the PFMEA of the filter assemblage of a module in the phased array radar. The result confirms its feasibility.
