Stable Token-Based Congestion Control

The Internet evolution towards hosting all communication services such as VoIP, videoconferencing, IPTV, social networking, and many others, introduced new requirements for service providers and constraints for designers. Token-Based Congestion Control (TBCC) provides per-subscriber fairness rather than per-flow fairness, which is provided by other congestion control algorithms such as TCP, CSFQ and XCP. Although TBCC provides better fairness to customs in the P2P flows dominated Internet, TBCC is unable to measure the congestion level at the core router by the analytic method. In the paper, we propose a Stable Token-Based Congestion Control (STCC), which integrates the algorithms of TBCC and XCP together. In STCC, the core router can measure the congestion level with the analytic method, and the control system becomes more stable than TBCC, which is demonstrated by the simulation in the paper.
