Feature Extraction for License Plate Character Based on Gabor filter
The recognition of characters is the key technique of the system for license plate recognition.The first step in the character recognition is the feature extraction.This paper discusses the theory and practicality of the feature extraction for the license plate character recognition based on the Cabor filter.It describes the pre-processing step for the license plate image.Then,it discusses the determination of the parameters for the Gabor filter,the feature extraction algorithm for the plate character recognition,and the license plate recognition experiments carried out by different classifiers in the Matlab environment.The experimental results demonstrate that the effectiveness of the Gabor filter in the feature extraction for the license plate character recognition.This paper also compares the experimental results with the directional projection and Moment in the classifier such as SVM,ANN and PCA for the license plate character recognition.These results demonstrate the recognition accuracy and simple execution of the Gabor filter.
