An Energy-Efficient Data Aggregation Architecture for Wireless Sensor Networks
Wireless Sensor Networks are composed,of small devices with limited computation and battery power. The amount of transmitted bits is one of the key problems that affect the performance of WSNs.To maximize the network lifetime, data aggregation is applied to eliminate redundant information and generating a data report to the base station (BS).In this paper,we propose a energy-efficient data aggregation architecture (EEDAA) for WSNs to achieve a long network lifetime.EEDAA combines the ideas of energy-efficient clustering architecture which excels in network topology management and minimum spanning tree algorithms among CHs.We analyze the performance of EEDAA,which is proved to outperform relevant schemes in terms of the balance between energy saving and communication efficiency.
