CPLD and Multi-processor Structure Design for Control Nodes of Networked Control System
Control nodes are primary units of Networked Control System (NCS).A design method for control nodes of NCS based on Complex Programmable Logic Device (CPLD) and multi-processor structure is proposed. The method uses CPLD as a bus bridge to interconnect internal processors of a control node. The computational and control ability of the node is promoted, the cost is reduced by using cheap Microcontroller Units (MCU) as internal multi-processors and the reliability is improved by each functional module with its own processor. Moreover, connection of internal processors in the same node can be changed via VHDL software by in-system programming, which results in more flexibility and extensibility-.The software of the control node is developed according to each processor separately, which simplifies software structure and debugging.A multifunctional control node of LonWorks is developed to verify the feasibility of the proposed design structure in practical application.
