Predicted Body Weight of Progeny Obtained by a Three-Way Cross and Back Cross Based on a 3 × 3 Complete Diallel Cross of Common Carp (Cyprinus carpi)
The prediction of body weight of fish obtained by a three-way cross and back cross based on a 3 x 3 complete diallel cross of common carp (Cyprinus carpio) (Jian carp,Huanghe carp,and Heilongjiang carp) was conducted.The results were as follows: (1) 36 combinations were created by crossing 6 crossbreds and 3 purebreds;(2) 13 combinations were obtained with the mid-parent model,which included 4 three-way crosses and 9 back crosses.Among the 13 combinations,JJh was the best.The results illustrated that the combinations Yhj,Hyj,and JJh should be the focus of compound breeding programs.(3) Further,the platform stage or inflection point of the predicted body weights value can be observed for single cross through 4 generations grading cross.Compared to this,only 1 generation can reach the time,considering the three-way cross.The sign of the time occurring was that the crossbred super parent heterosis showed the trend toward zero.In contrast,the super parent heterosis used for the backcross increased gradually.
