The Accuracy of Regular Grid Digital Elevation Model
The error of Digital Elevation Model (DEM) comprises the propagation error of grid data,but also includes the simulation error of terrain expressed by interpolation method.The interpolation Digital Elevation Models in pieces area makes up of bilinear interpolation,bicubic interpolation,splines function interpolation,Coons surface DEM,etc.This paper studies that the accuracy of the Digital Elevation Models base on mathematical surfaces which are added the normal distribution of random errors to,as shown in experiment different Digital Elevation Models have different sensitivity to original data error in different terrain,the accuracy of Digital Elevation Model not only relates to sampling interval and terrain complexity but also relates to original data error and interpolation method.
