Peer-to-Peer System Active Worms Detection Using Honeypot

Active worms continue to pose major threats to the security of todays internet. In this paper, the issue is tackled by modeling and analyzing active worm propagation on top of Peer-to-Peer systems, and designing effective defense strategies based on honeypot, which aims to solve the problems of long detection time and low accuracy rate when detecting worms in the structured P2P network.Concrete operations are described as follows.Firstly define and analyze formal P2P-based active worm attack models. And then propose defense strategies within the P2P system to combat worms.Lastly the results show that P2P active worm can be attracted into honeypot in the first infection and can be detected accurately by-experiment.So it provides a new method for detecting P2P worms in the structured P2P network.
