Reliability Optimization of Avionics System based on Cost Function and Reliability Importance via BlockSim Software
This paper studies how to optimize the reliability of avionics system from fault avoidance and fault tolerance.An approach of optimum reliability allocation based on cost function and an approach of optimizing the system reliability based on reliability importance are researched.Through balancing the relationship between the reliability and the cost, the cost function allocates the reliability to make the system reliability achieve the goal at the minimum cost To enhance the efficiency of optimizing the system reliability, improving the reliability of the weak link is the most efficient way.The weak link can be efficiently identified by the reliability importance, which identifies the relative importance of each component in a system with respect to the overall reliability of the system.Taking an airborne system for example, this paper implements the reliability optimization with the help of BlockSim Software, which is a splendid reliability software widely used by commercial and military organizations in American and Europe, such as US AIR FORCE and BOEING.The results show that both approaches are feasible and effective in reliability optimization application.Compared with the method based on cost function, the method based on reliability importance can greatly improve the efficiency of system reliability optimization.
