Research on Nonlinear Simulation of Spiral Case with Different Embedment Manners
Spiral case (SC) embedded in concrete with cushion layer (SCCL) was popular used in low water-head powerhouse, but was little carried on in high waterhead powerhouse and less experience was accumulated.In order to clarify the mechanical behavior of SCCL and SCED (SC embedded directly in concrete) in high water-head powerhouse, a 3D-FEM was established, considering contact property between SC and peripheral reinforced concrete, elasto-plastic constitutive model and technology of reinforcement embedding in concrete.The stress levels of reinforced concrete and steel liner were calculated between the SCCL and SCED, as well as computed the reinforced concrete crack produced by water pressure.The result was that SCCL was fit for high-head powerhouse on having the best performance of steel, limiting crack of the concrete and increasing the stiffness of the powerhouse.
