A New Class of Two-Phase Approach for Salt-and-Pepper Noise Removal
In this paper, a new efficient two-phase approach is proposed for removing salt-and-pepper noise. In the first phase, an adaptive median filter is used to identify pixels which are likely to be contaminated by noise, and in the second phase, the image is restored using an adaptive FIR filter that applies only to those identified pixels.Computer simulations indicate that our algorithm provides some improvements over adaptive median filter and many other existing methods while preserving low computational complexity.
