Quality of Service (QoS) in Wireless networks-A Survey
In this paper we surveyed the Quality of Service (QoS) in wireless networks. We present a comprehensive overview of QoS, both in single hop (distributed and infrastructure based wireless networks) and multi-hop wireless networks. We first briefly describe the medium access mechanism in IF.F.E 8U2.11 b/g standard and then enhancements in IEEE 802.11 b/g standard i.e. IEEE 802.1 He) standard. We then explain the mechanism Enhanced Distribution Coordination Function (EDCF) in the context of support of QoS. Finally we present different problems and their proposed solutions that are related to multi-hop wireless network to provide QoS. Finally some routing problems that are identified and proposed solutions are presented.
