Finite Element Modeling and Application of the Leg for Chinese Pedestrian
A finite element (FE) model of the leg was developed to improve the understanding of the injury mechanism of Chinese pedestrians leg. The geometrical model of leg was reconstructed bv MIMICS and Geomagic Studio from CT scans of the 50th Chinese adult male. Based on this, the FE model with all tissue structures was generated by TrueGrid and Hypermesh. The dynamic three-point bending simulation test was performed by Pam-Crash. Results showed that damage moment and displacement were agreement with the cadaver results, which indicated that the FE model was feasible and creditable. Also, the effect of various thickness of the cortical bone of tibia shaft on section force of tibia was studied by using the FE model.
