A Cooperative MAC with Helper Nodes Active Assist
Due to the advantages of the spatial diversity gains, the cooperative technology has been widely using in wireless communication. In this paper, we present a novel cooperative MAC protocol. Compared with Coop MAC, the helper will not be selected by the source or destination before cooperative transmission, and the Coop Table in Coop MAC need not for our MAC. For ours, the potential helpers will overhear the messages on the channel when a certain source sends something to its destination and decide whether to assist the current transmission or not. In addition, the destination combines the signals received from the source and the helper, thus creating spatial diversity and decreasing the bit error ratio at the receiver. The theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the proposed protocol can enhance the network throughput and decrease the packets transmission delay.
