A Control Method Based On DSP for Three-phase UPS Under Unbalanced Loads

The symmetry of three-phase output voltages has very important influence on the performance of UPS (uninterruptible power supply). Asymmetrical output voltages are caused mainly by unbalanced loads. This paper analyzes the mechanism of the asymmetry of three-phase UPS output voltages under unbalanced loads, and proposes a method how to improve the symmetry of three-phase output voltages. A synchronous positive/negative reference frame controller which can compensate output voltage distortion of UPS effectively under unbalanced loads has been proposed. The good performance of the proposed control method has been verified by simulation results and experiments in the prototype based on DSP and Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM).
