Low-Complexity Parameter Estimators for Incoherently Distributed Sources
In this paper, a new two-stage method for parameter estimation of incoherently distributed (ID) sources is proposed. The proposed method firstly obtain the preliminary estimation of the central angle by using the approximate rotational invariance relationship between two identical closely spaced uniform linear arrays (ULAs). And then the central angle and angular spread are estimated by constructing one-dimensional generalized Capon spectrum. Instead of twodimensional parameter search, our method provides lower computational complexity compared with the original generalized Capon beamforming method. Simulation results show our method is not only effective, but also enjoys better performance compared with the DISPARE method.
