The FCME Algorithm in FHSS System for Frequency Domain Interference Detection
This work contains a novel application of the forward consecutive mean excision (FCME) iterative algorithm in frequency-hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) systems. The FCME algorithm initials itself using a small, clean data set. It is blind since it do not need to know the noise level. FCME algorithm separates iteratively the initial set of samples to two sets: outlier set and clean signal set. The initial threshold parameter required by FCME algorithm is calculated in advance based on statistical properties of non-interference signal. Same initial threshold parameter is shown to operate in various interference scenarios regardless of interference power and bandwidth. Frequency hopping spread spectrum which can hop according to predefined frequency map becomes more and more important in the communications. This work we put forward a new technique which is remove the Frequency hopping (FH) signal from the receive signal using the predefined PN sequences, then use the FCME algorithm detect narrow-band interference (NBl) in the AWGN circumstance.
