Broadband CPW Cross-Fed Antenna with High-Gain and Omnidirectionality
A compact CPW cross-fed antenna having broadband, high-gain and omnidirectionality is presented. The antenna configuration is based on the traditional coaxial-collinear antenna and adopted CPW cross-fed to achieve antennas planar design. The key point is the optimization of antennas bandwidth, omnidirectionality and gain. The proposed model has been simulated by CST MICROWAVE STUDIO8 to analyze the influence of antenna elements dimension and elements spacing when referring to bandwidth and radiation pattern. Moreover, a triangle patch is creatively introduced in the end of antenna to improve gain. The CPW cross-fed antenna operating in 2.24~2.80GHz has been designed and manufactured on a FR-4 substrate with lmm thickness. The prototype was measured in microwave anechoic chamber. The relative bandwidth is up to 22.2% with reflection coefficient less than -lOdB and the H-plane maximum omnidirectional gain can achieve S.OdBi ((?2.4GHz). Measured results show good agreement with the simulated. Whats more, the size of proposed antenna is only 178×18.5mm2, which has potential application in WLAN systems.
