Study on HEMP Coupling to A Wire Inside A Cavity with Single Aperture
High altitude nuclear electromagnetic pulse (HEMP) coupling through apertures is one of the main ways of electromagnetic (EM) attacks on the electronic and electrical equipments and systems. In this paper, by using the three-dimensional EM simulation software MicroStripes7.S and based on the transmission line matrix (TLM) method, we simulate and analyze HEMP coupling to a wire which is shielded by a cavity with single aperture. The affect of different incident angles and the affect of wire location are analyzed and compared. The induced currents on the wire inside a cylindrical cavity and a rectangular cavity are also compared and analyzed.
