EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON RC BEAMS STRENGTHENED WITH PRESTRESSED INTERVAL IMPREGNATED HYBRID CARBON/BASALT FIBER SHEET
Based on the questions of low strength utilization and not ideal adhesive interface existing in practical engineering appliction of FRP,this paper presents prestressed interval impregnated interply hybrid carbon/basalt fiber sheet (C/BFS) ,as externally bonded FRP using vacuum assisted resin transfer molding process (VARTM) tecnique,to strengthen reinforced concrete (RC) T-beams. Cyclic loading tests on the five T-beams were carried out to study their flexural behavior. Test results show that C/BFS can be given a high prestress and is suitable for bonding to the surface of concrete after interval impregnation, and the adhesive interface of FRP sheet can be greatly improved by VARTM tecnique. The load capacity and ductility of RC beams increase obviously.
