Study of Harmonic Elimination in Switching Devices in STATCOM
At present,static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) has the problem of switching harmonics generated by the device, this paper proposes a better method that the cascade multilevel inverter as the master topology of STATCOM combines SPWM (CPS-PWM) modulation, and describe the working principle of STATCOM and the control methods. This method can effectively eliminate high harmonics and low harmonics, and obtain a better output voltage waveform. Finally, through the MATLAB simulation, it can found that the method can reduce power consumption; also doubly improve the equivalent carrier frequency, and significantly reduce the content of the output harmonic, so as to make STATCOM better achieve reactive power compensation.
