C-XSC, a Sophisticated Environment for Reliable Computing

The C-XSC library for extended Scientific Computing has been created at the beginning of the 1990s at the University of Karlsruhe. Since 1999 it was and still is maintained and further developed at the University of Wuppertal. In recent years C-XSC has been improved significantly with respect to performance issues and comprehensiveness. The library now is thread-safe (some restrictions for input/output via streams should be kept in mind), efficient scalar products with selectable accuracy based on error free transformations have been realized, sparse data types have been introduced, and powerful arbitrary precision real and complex interval arithmetics have been implemented as a supplementing package working smoothly together with intrinsic C-XSC numerical data types. Additional packages like self-verify ing solvers for parameter dependent linear systems or a package providing arithmetics for multiple-precision interval polynomials (different bases like Chebyscheff, Bernstein, Hermite,... are plann) are under development and will be made available soon. All the software as well as some further packages not mentioned yet are open source and freely available from the web site of the research group Scientific Computing/Software Engineering at the University of Wuppertal: http://www2.math.uni-wuppertal.de/org/WRST/index.de.html
