Comparative Seismic Analysis of Shield Tunnel Using Equivalent Beam Element Method and 3D Simulation

This article adopt equivalent beam element to simulate the characteristics of the shield tunnel, established longitudinal equivalent continuous model of the shield tunnel. The shield tunnel is modeled as a uniform beam supported on the viscoelastic foundation of Winkler type. The interaction between soil and structure can be evaluated by the contact surface, which is simulated by the nonlinear spring and damper. The equivalent finite element method is used for the calculation of above model. This method is performed for the shield tunnel across Yangtze River, in order to examine the characteristics of longitudinal seismic response of shield tunnels. This model takes nonlinear behaviors of soil and contact interface between soil and tunnel into account, and the contact interfaces between lining segments are also considered. The spacing distribution of displacement, stress and time history series are obtained. Both the stress in lining segments and axial force in connecting bolts are compared with that by other 3D simulation method on complex solid model.
