Numerical Analysis of Long-span Floor Vibration due to Crowd Synchronized Walking Using ANSYS

In order to investigate long-span floor vibration responses due to crowd walking , transient dynamic analysis in ANSYS was adopted to simulate crowd synchronized walking across long -span floor. The whole procedure is clear and straightforward. Apply footfall forces to the floor model at lo -cations approximately where people will land at times through the temporal sequence , which was conducted using ANSYS Parametric Design Language (APDL). This can create new numerical analyses conveniently by changing the corresponding parameters. Two groups walking at four frequencies respectively were simulated though the numerical analyses. The proposed numerical simulation method of crowd walking is a direct and efficient preliminary treatment of floor vibration serviceabili ty. And the programming method using APDL was described in detail and could be developed easily.
