Assessment on Structural Responses under Dynamic Consolidation through Numerical Simulation and Field Measurement

The assessment on structural responses under dynamic consolidation is investigated in this study. Two finite element models are established for the consolidation site and the surrounding build -ing, respectively. The ground motions induced by consolidation are obtained and compared with those from field measurement in order to determine the validity of the established model. Furthermore , the wave attenuation after the trench is researched. Then, the field measurements are taken as the external excitations on surrounding buildings for exploring the structural dynamic responses. The vibration safety assessment and the vibration serviceability of the structure are evaluated in line with the specifications in DIN4150-3; 1999 and ISO 10137,respectively. The analytical results indicate that the vibration safety assessment of the surrounding building meets the requirements. The method utilized in this study can be taken as the references for the dynamic assessment on safety and ser viceability of other structures subjected to dynamic consolidation.
