Sound Induced by Local Vibration of Railway Bridge
Sound radiated from railway bridges is caused by the local vibration of the bridge struc -ture under moving train. It is characterized as a kind of low frequency noise that leads to annoyance and stress to residents nearby. This paper aims to establish the quantitative relationship between lo -cal vibration of the bridge and the radiated sound. The local vibration of the bridge was solved by mode superposition method (MSM) based train -track-bridge interaction analysis. The bridge-borne sound was then computed using the mode coordinate responses and the modal acoustic transfer vec tors(MATVs)of the bridge. A real U-shaped bridge was applied to illustrate the simulated bridge-borne sound. It is observed that the radiating properties of various modes of vibration are quite dif -ferent though their natural frequencies are very close. It is also found that the dominant frequencies of the sound pressure under the bridge are around 80Hz at a train speed of 70 km/h.
